This module provides strategies for teacher leaders in order that they may provide colleagues with the support that they need. The support strategies include coaching and mentoring.
Effective teacher leaders can use the strategies to not only help
new teachers develop but to also develop the culture of the school to support coaching and mentoring.
Coaching and mentoring are supported in the research as formal and informal support systems that can enhance professional development activities. Research is varied in terms of how coaching and mentoring terms are defined. There will be a sampling of research shared for both coaching and mentoring. Information in this module will be provided to assist you in reflecting on the kinds of support that are needed, or provided, at your school.
